What we did
Book Design
The brief was to create a lush, accessible book that unifies an eclectic selection of over 400 objects from Te Papa’s collection. They include botanical specimens and art, photography, furniture, jewellery, tīvaevae, textiles, stamps and cultural artifacts. The objects are combined in unexpected pairings to create a playful, whimsical journey, orchestrating new associations, expanding the way we think about our botanical world and its cultural imprint.
This large-scale publication contains 13 spot colours including pastels and neons to capture the vibrant spectrum of all things botanical. These are used to delineate the contextual cross-disciplinary essays interleaved in the centre of selected folios on uncoated stock.
